This week's edition begins with a report on the doubling of billionaires assets and how can it be resolved, the relationship between climate change and the increase wars between 2010 and 2020, several reports on Shireen Abu Akleh, and the meeting in Japan of "the Quad" (US, Japan, India, Australia) to plot trade and war in the Indo Pacific region. from Radio Deutsche-Welle, Radio Havana Cuba, and NHK Japan.
From GERMANY- DW has a weekly 30 minute show called Business Beyond. In this excerpted report the subject is billionaires. Inequality is rising to the highest levels ever seen in human history, with the tiny billionaire class doubling their wealth since the start of the Covid crisis. Oxfam and others discuss how this gross imbalance could be rectified. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute released a report saying that climate change is increasingly driving conflicts around the world, which saw armed conflicts double in the past ten years, as did the number of refugees.
From CUBA- The UN says that the number of people displaced by war and human rights abuses has topped 100 million for the first time. Ireland is hosting an informal meeting of the Security Council of the UN to discuss media freedom and to scrutinize the murder of Palestinian American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh- the Israel military has decided not to conduct a criminal investigation into the killing. Since 2021 the EU has withheld a large proportion of its funding to Palestinians, under the pretext that Palestinian textbooks need to undergo revisions.
From JAPAN- Iran has vowed to avenge last Sunday’s killing of a senior officer of the Revolutionary Guard Corp, accusing the US and Israel of being involved in the drive-by murder. Then a combination of reports on the meeting of the Quad- Japan, the US, India, and Australia. They discussed trade and security in the Indo-Pacific region, with Biden stating that the US will maintain a strong presence in the area, and that the US would use military force to defend Taiwan from mainland China- this shocked many countries and inflamed China. China and Russia reportedly flew jets near Japanese airspace and Japan scrambled jets in response. China followed with military drills near Taiwan. The Chinese Foreign Minister began a tour of 8 islands in the Pacific, beginning with the Solomon Islands- China said it has no intention of building a military base there. At a UN Security Council meeting western countries and Russia accused each other of spreading disinformation and making cyber threats since the invasion of Ukraine.

There is a 2015 video called "Fukushima- a nuclear story" by Italian Matteo Gagliardi that I just saw and highly recommend to anyone concerned about the handling of radioactive waste by the company that will dump it in the Pacific Ocean.
From CUBA- The Consular of Europe for Human Rights has called on the UK not to extradite Julian Assange to the US. The Cuban Foreign Ministry replied to the US announcement of relaxing some restrictions on Cuba. Venezuela confirmed that the US has authorized oil companies to restart importing oil from Caracas. What is the role of propaganda in war? The leader of the European Commission has called for a ban in Europe of Russian oil, as well as banning 3 more Russian networks in Europe, in addition to Sputnik Radio and Russia Today which are already blocked. After many decades of pacifism, both Germany and Japan are changing their policy on offensive weapons and are developing rearmament plans.
From JAPAN- A planned multibillion dollar US arms sale to Taiwan has been delayed because of increased demand for in other parts of the globe. The Chinese Navy did more military drills with its warships in the western Pacific Ocean. Russian commanders complain that the west is filling Ukraine with weapons, so they are going to target train transport of the arms. More on the Japanese plans to increase military power, with the assistance of the US military.

"I really am tired of all the Clinton Democrats running around getting all-sanctimonious over Iraq. It was them who killed 1.5 to 2.2 million Iraqis through sanctions. Sanctions that Madeline Albright, their illustrious Secretary of State, when confronted with the fact of 500,000 dead Iraqi children, said it was a price she was willing to pay."

This week's show begins with an interview with Randy Credico (WBAI, Christmas Coup Comedy Players) on how different our knowledge of world events might be if Julian had not spent the last three years in a maximum security prison, and how Americans are being gaslighted, the US and Philippines have launched their largest ever military drills in the South China Sea, and Mexican President Obrador confirmed that the 2014 case of the missing 43 teachers is continuing with new revelations.
http://youthspeaksout.net/swr220401.mp3 (29:00)
From RUSSIA- On his program called Sputnik Orbiting the World, host George Galloway spoke with American journalist and radio producer Randy Credico, from WBAI and the legendary Christmas Coup Comedy Players. Randy is a friend of Julian Assange and talks about the British prison wedding of Julian and Stella Assange, how different our knowledge of world events might be if Julian had not spent the last three years in a maximum security prison, and how Americans are being gaslighted. He points to the political resistance that some American entertainers used to express, how fear and censorship are curtailing any questioning of the military industrial complex, and how public radio is the only safe haven for any dissent. Even Anglo-sphere commercial political comedy is superficial, and our mainstream news media is not scrutinizing what is being reported about war, energy, and climate change.
From JAPAN- The US and Philippines have launched their largest ever military drills in the South China Sea. A week after quasi-emergency measures against Covid were lifted, there are strong signs of a rebound in cases in Japan.

A US General told Congress that Iran is expanding its economic and security in Latin America. Deaths from Covid in Europe are on the rise again. Then a Viewpoint Biden's call for regime change in Russia.
"War itself is, of course, a form of madness. It is hardly a civilized pursuit. It is amazing how we spend so much time inventing devices to kill each other and so little time working on how to achieve peace."

With reports from France, Russia, and Cuba.
http://youthspeaksout.net/swr220325.mp3 (29:00)
From FRANCE- British Royalty Prince William and Kate Middleton visited Jamaica to attempt to keep the former slave state to remain within the British Commonwealth- large protests greeted them, with many demanding reparations for slavery and a democratic process. A Dutch court threw out a case brought by Nigerian widows against Shell oil for bribing witnesses which led to the execution of nine Ogoni men in 1995- they had campaigned against the exploitation of oil in the Niger delta, and included author Ken Sar0-Wiwa.
From RUSSIA- On his program called Going Underground Afshin Rattansi spoke with retired Col Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff to US Secretary of State Colin Powell. He discusses the context of Russia's invasion, citing NATO expansion after the fall of the Soviet Union as one of Washington's greatest strategic mistakes. He addresses the deepening international isolation of Russia and President Vladimir Putin, calling it insane. He outlines what a diplomatic solution needs to look like in order for there to be peace in Ukraine, and his belief that NATO and the CSTO should be scrapped in favor of a united European security infrastructure.
From CUBA- Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, said that the model of the international financial system prevents construction of a more equitable world. He also stated that the world is sleepwalking to a climate catastrophe because of the addiction to fossil fuel. He went on to say that racism poisons institutions, social structures and daily life all around the world. There was a protest in front of Raytheon weapons company in Cambridge Mass., against war as a business. Then a Viewpoint on why it has taken so long to begin negotiations on a treaty to stop the war in Ukraine from escalating.
"Edward Snowden is anything but narcissist. In fact, I wonder every day how he could come up with the courage, muster the courage to sacrifice everything just so he could do, as he said in rather eloquent speech initially, alert the American people to what was going on. Call him a traitor, call him whatever you want to. The fact is he is a symptom of the disease, and the disease is constant war and the national security state. That is what we've become. That is our raison d'être in the world today, to wage war."
